Moth or Cockroach

Jesus is the Life.  Jesus is the Light of men.

John 1:4-13 “In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”

Psalm 119:105  “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

Proverbs 6:23 “For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching is light; and reproofs for discipline are the way of life”

When the light shines in the darkness, the darkness can’t stand it!

Have you ever been asleep in the middle of the night and suddenly someone shone a flashlight right in your eyes? If you have, you know that your immediate reaction would not be a pleased one! The light would hurt your eyes. You would try to cover your eyes to get away from the light!

On the other hand, have you ever been alone at night somewhere when the lights went out unexpectedly? You would have a very positive reaction to someone at that moment if they had a flashlight! The light would show you where you were and where everything else was. It would light your path so you could move. It would make you feel safe!

Let me use the illustration of moths and cockroaches to explain the difference between those who reject the claims of Jesus and will not receive Him and those who believe in His Name and become children of God!

Cockroaches are everywhere when the lights are out, but click that light on and—zoom!  They scurry back into their holes where they feel comfortable in their darkness. Moths, on the other hand, are drawn to the light. They want to be near it.

Hurry to the Light while you can...
