When Judgment Hits a Nation—Nobody is Exempt...

The Supreme Court of the United States of America just “legalized” same-sex marriages across the land. Man did not design marriage—God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, did. And man’s new legal definition defies the Supreme Being of the Universe. If God is all that He tells us He is (and He is), then we must expect (according to His Word) that He will in due course righteously judge our beloved nation for its insurrection.

The book of Habakkuk typifies the fact that national judgment affects individuals.

Habakkuk prayed and asked God to send judgment against the ungodly persons in Israel. However, when God’s answer came back to him, Habakkuk was not pleased. He thought God was too harsh in choosing the barbaric Babylonians as the bearers of Israel’s punishment. Habakkuk voiced his displeasure and, despite his terror, silently waited for God to reprove him.

When God finally spoke, He taught Habakkuk a powerful lesson which is absolutely necessary for all Christians to embrace daily, even hourly, as they walk out their salvation here on earth.

God taught Habakkuk that the righteous man lives by faith. Habakkuk needed to face the vision of the coming Babylonians with faith—believing (trusting and walking in the light of) everything God said.

Judgment is coming against all ungodly nations—there is no doubt whatsoever about that—and when it does, the righteous remnant of the church will be affected by it. There will be suffering and torment, even for Christians.

For His people, on this side of the grave, the purpose of judgment is to cause repentance, so God can restore. Habakkuk needed to remember that!

When the Lord speaks (and He does continually in His Word) we are to hear what He says and bow in submission to it. Then, all our anxious concerns can disappear. Our hearts will be serene when our souls are surrendered and awestricken before the Majesty on High!

I know this blog is read all over the world, (and this message is certainly for each and every nation on the face of the earth) but on a personal note, living in America, I earnestly implore American Christians to heed Habakkuk’s lesson.

God undeniably judges nations, and America is definitely not exempt. Judgment comes (at God’s appointed time) when nations reject God and His people. America has more than rejected God and His authority over us. We have decided that, although our nation bears the Name of God, we want nothing to do with His Name or His ways.

We have defied and delegitimized the God of Heaven and Earth, declaring ourselves to be the masters of our own fate. We have haughtily exalted humankind, animals, and the earth and heavens themselves—and now shamelessly worship the creation rather than the Creator. We have bullied, belittled, betrayed, and abandoned God’s beloved Israel. We have murdered babies and mocked those who stand for righteousness. Have we, perhaps, sealed our fate by finally imposing immoral abominations as the now legal law of the land?

God’s wrath is “being revealed” right now, which means that it has already been dispatched from His hand, is traveling toward our nation, and will not tarry or stray until it reaches its intended target.

Without repentance, we will surely perish…

Romans 1:16–32

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.

And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them.

If you are an American who is a true believer, how will you live as you wait for judgment to strike our nation? Will you live by faith?

If you are an American who is a true believer, how will you live once judgment strikes our nation? Will you live by faith?

Will you tell others the truth about sin and judgment—now… before it arrives?
